MINUTES OF THE TOWN AND LIGHTING COMMITTEE HELD ON

TUESDAY 15th JANUARY 2008 AT 7.30 PM

MINUTES

 

The Minutes of the previous Meeting having been circulated were approved by the Meeting and signed by the Chairman.

 

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

 

Members were asked to declare any personal interest and the nature of that interest which they may have in any of the items under consideration.

 

PRESENTATION FROM WINDOW FLOWERS

 

A presentation was received from Miles Watson-Smyth on planting flower beds, hanging baskets and saddle bags within the Town.

 

LIGHTING MATTERS

 

The Councillors identified areas that require action around the Parish.

The Clerk is requested to contact the lighting contractor to receive a progress report on the painting of the lamp posts and to issue a works order for the lamp in Mill Lane on the corner of Courtmoor Close.                                                                             SG

 

TOWN MATTERS

 

The Councillors identified areas that require action around the Parish.

The Clerk is requested to contact the relevant authorities to highlight the following problems and request that the appropriate work is completed.

CORRESPONDENCE

 

Letter from BCC regarding an interest-free loan facility that has been set-up to tackle climate change.

The Clerk is requested to keep this information on file.                                            SG

Letter from resident thanking the Town Council for organising the floral displays in the town and requested that the station signs are replaced.

The Clerk is requested to respond advising that new signs are on order.                SG

A reply from Tescos advising that they are unable to provide funding for planting within the town but could offer labour to help with the planting.

The Clerk is requested to contact Marks & Spencer again requesting their participation in a sponsored planting scheme.                                                             SG

 

TENDERS FOR CONSIDERATION

 

NONE RECEIVED

 

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PLANTING WITHIN THE TOWN

 

Following the presentation received from Windowflowers, Cllr G Hall proposed to recommend to the Town Council that the Town Council form an annual contract with a company to supply plant and maintain the planting throughout 2008/2009. Seconded by Cllr E Clifford. All present agreed.                                                                                                                    SG

 

 

EMPTY STORES WITHIN THE TOWN

 

Cllr Mrs P Williams expressed her concern with the number of shops that are becoming empty within the Town. All present agreed. The Clerk is requested to contact David Lidington and MEP James Ellees to request information on any E U initiative that may be of help.

THE DAMAGE AT TESCO CAUSED BY THE RECENT CRASH

 

Cllr Mrs P Williams expressed her disappointment that corrective measures have not been taken to restore the perimeter to its original state. The Clerk is requested to contact the M.D. requesting intervention from the Estates Department.                                               SG

 

THE WHITELEAF TIMELINE

 

All present agreed to recommend to the Town Council that the Town Council agree a formal position on the Whiteleaf Timeline. Cllr Woolf agreed to arrange an informal site meeting for the councillors to make an informed decision.                                                    SG/WW

 

AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING

 

Market House War Memorial

 

The next meeting of the Committee will take place on Tuesday 11th March 2008 at 7.00pm in the meeting room on the first floor in Tower Court, Horns Lane, Princes Risborough.

 

There being no further business to discuss, the meeting closed at 8.37pm.
